IT Support and Managed IT Services in St. Paul

Help desk, managed IT and cybersecurity for St. Paul businesses, law firms and nonprofits, from a SOC 2 audited team serving the Twin Cities since 2000.

St. Paul businesses want the same things from an IT company as anyone: someone who answers, fixes it the first time and keeps the business safe. OAC Technology has done that for Twin Cities businesses since 2000. Downtown St. Paul is about 25 minutes from our office in New Hope via I-694, and most support never needs the drive: a technician connects securely and fixes the problem while you watch. We provide IT support and managed IT services for St. Paul companies, law firms and nonprofits with 5 to 200 employees, at published rates with no long-term contract. IT support for St. Paul businesses

Two ways to pay. Call us by the hour when something breaks, or put your computers on a flat monthly plan with unlimited help desk during business hours at $50 per computer. See how our IT support works.

Managed IT. Monitoring, patching, backups and security handled before they become tickets, under one managed IT services plan.

Microsoft 365 and email. Accounts, licensing, Teams and SharePoint set up properly, and email that cannot be spoofed.

Networks, Wi-Fi and phones. Firewalls, cabling and Wi-Fi that reach every corner, and business phone systems that move with you.

Backups that get tested. Servers and Microsoft 365 backed up daily, with restores tested before you need one. See cloud backups.

Working in a capital city

St. Paul is Minnesota’s capital, and it shows in the work. Downtown is home to Securian Financial, a large Travelers office and Ecolab’s headquarters, state agencies sit around the Capitol, and Regions and United hospitals are among the city’s major employers. A lot of St. Paul companies work for or alongside government, insurers and health systems.

That brings rules an ordinary office never meets. A company hired to perform a government agency’s functions must handle the data from that work under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, as if it were a government entity itself. Anyone who touches patient information falls under HIPAA. Insurers and larger clients send questionnaires about multi-factor authentication, encryption and incident response. We build those controls into managed IT and keep the evidence ready, and our free HIPAA security checklist and cyber insurance readiness check show where you stand today.

Law firms and nonprofits

With the Ramsey County courthouse downtown and the Minnesota Judicial Center beside the Capitol, St. Paul has more than its share of law firms, and they share two IT problems: deadlines that do not move and client files that must not leak. Our IT support for law firms covers secure document handling, email that clients can trust, and backups tested before a deadline depends on them.

St. Paul also has a large nonprofit community, and the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits is based here. Nonprofits qualify for discounted Microsoft 365 and other software, hold donor data worth protecting, and rarely have an IT budget to spare. See IT services for nonprofits, and our page for accounting firms if you keep the books for them.

Older buildings, new networks

Much of downtown St. Paul, and Lowertown in particular, is historic building stock: brick warehouses and early office towers converted for modern tenants. They are good places to work and awkward places to run cable, and the network closet is often an afterthought. We plan cabling, Wi-Fi and internet service around the building you have, coordinate with property managers and carriers, and make sure the phones and the network work on the first morning in a new space.

When a visit is needed, we come on site. Downtown St. Paul is about 25 minutes from our office, and we also cover Roseville, Woodbury and the rest of the east metro.

Security for a city full of valuable data

Insurers, health systems and government contractors hold exactly the data criminals want, and the smaller firms that work with them are often the easier way in. Our managed cybersecurity puts Huntress managed detection and response and SentinelOne on every computer and server, watches Microsoft 365 accounts for takeover, filters email, and trains your team with security awareness training and phishing tests. If the worst happens, our ransomware remediation service and tested backups get you working again.
